TRAQ Course and Exam (6-8 Oct 2016)

 

The ISA Hong Kong Chapter have scheduled the TRAQ Tree Risk Assessment Qualification Course and Exam in Hong Kong in (6-8 Oct  2016  Class A)

Time: 9am - 6pm
Venue: Unit 2, 13/F, Wah Yiu Industrial Center, 30-32 Au Pui Wan St, Fo Tan, NT
Max. Class size: 20 ppl
(Priority is given the existing TRAQ/TRACE holders whose qualification is expiring soon)  
Cost: HK$5,000 for current ISA HK Professional Member AND HQ member,
         HK$5,200 for ISA HQ Member;  
         HK$6,000 for Non-member
(includes the course study guide and workbook which should be collected in person a few weeks prior to the exam date, collection address to be announced).

Refund policy:  A full refund if the class is closed due to insufficient participants. No refund would be given if the applicant could not attend the class due to personal reasons.
Course Content
The course content includes Levels of Assessment, Target Assessment, Site Assessment, Tree Biology and Mechanics, Tree Inspection and Assessment, Data Analysis and Risk Categorization, Mitigation, and Reporting.
Qualification Period
The TRAQ qualification is valid for five (5) years from the date it is earned. A credential holder is required to take the course and pass the exam every five years in order to renew the credential. No CEUs are needed to maintain this qualification. ISA credential holders will be offered 14.5 CEUs for attending the course.
TRACE credential transfer into the new ISA program
If you held the TRACE credential, you have been transferred into the ISA TRAQ program and your current expiration date has been carried over. Transferees have been provided with program information and a TRAQ certificate.

Qualified Chainsaw and Pruning (Ground-based) Technician (QCPT) 
International Society of Arboriculture, Hong Kong Chapter


ISA Hong Kong Chapter (ISAHK) developed a Qualified Chainsaw and Pruning (Ground) Technician (QCPT) Program requirements, policy, processes, procedures and assessments in conformance with the Government qualification requirements, and the assessment process of which pitched at the requirements listed in the HKQF’s Level 2.  The Tree Management Office (TMO) of Development Bureau has formally confirmed on 30 March 2015 that workers who have successfully passed the ISA Hong Kong Chapter’s QCPT assessment would be able to comply with the new requirement in pruning works as detailed in their letter dated 17 December 2014.

QCPT is qualification based on skill-oriented assessment in term of vocational and professional needs. Details of QCPT including the assessment scheme can be found in the following documents:

Guidance Notes to Application:
  1. Applicants for admission must possess the prescribed relevant working experience, at least immediate past two (2) years experience in related works prior to application, of which half year intensive use of chainsaw must be obtained.
  2. Applicant must enclose together with the application certified true copies of the original academic qualification or training, and relevant proof of work experience.
Please note that the exam may be cancelled or postponed for unforeseen event such as the hoisting of typhoon signal no. 8 or higher, Black Rainstorm Warning Signal in force, or for any other reason beyond our control, if such event happens 2 hours before the exam time. The candidate can call 5228 5526 on the exam date to make sure of any uncertainty. The exam may carry on according to in-situ condition in rainy day or day with thunderstorm.
All candidates are required to be responsible for their personal safety. Candidates are also advised to prepare their own insurance for personal accident. Candidates attending the Practical Part shall explicitly agree to this requirement, before taking the assessment.

Hosted by the ISA Hong Kong Chapter, the upcoming written exam for “ISA Certified Arborist, Utility Specialist, Municipal Specialist and Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist” will be held in the coming September, 2016 - details as follows:

For Certified Arborist, Utility Specialist and Municipal Specialist exam application:
Registration Deadline:11 September 2016 (Sunday)
- Please register through the ISA website (http://www.isa-arbor.com/) to sit for the exam.

For Certified Tree Worker exam application ONLY:
Registration Deadline:5 September 2016 (Monday)
-   Please register via ISA Hong Kong Chapter by posting the completed application form  [Application handbook (PDF version)] to "“Room 11, 9/F, Lee King Industrial Buildings, 12 Ng Fong Street, San Po Kong, Kowloon” or email it to.  
-   All applicants must have certificate in first-aid course recognized in Hong Kong. For more information, please click here.
-   In the application of the exam, candidate shall include both sides of the first-aid certification card (the paper certificate for AMS first-aid course shall also be included) with the full name of the first aid course clearly shown in the above document.

For all retaking candidates and those who have taken the paper exam: Regardless of the previous results, the candidates are required to fill in the pink retake form attached to the letter of examination result, and stating clearly the preferred date of skill test and return to the Hong Kong Chapter for registration (due to the site constraint, we cannot guarantee the preferred date is available for the candidates and further coordination may be necessary). If the retaking is made within 1 year after the first take, it is free of charge. If it is made after the first year but within the second year after the first take, separate charge is required every time – please refer to ISA Headquarters’ notice for details.

For all applicants who have not taken the paper exam: They must fill in a complete new application form and state clearly the preferred date of skill test:
